Description ~click image for a larger view~ complete prewar Slingerland Maybell tenor banjo pot & neck Here's an original 10 3/4" complete prewar Slingerland Maybell banjo pot assembly with a big time Moses archtop tone ring the likes of which is rarely seen. Standard top notch prewar Slingerland rim construction....24 "L"- shoes with hex nut rim bolts, matching flat hooks and nuts, big thick 5/8" + walnut rim and the patented smooth top tension hoop with hooks that sit into a side slot so they do not cut into your arm! All these features were pretty much standard on the top model Maybells but this one has the very unusual BIG time arch top tone ring as the photos clearly show. Also has the 1/4" rolled brass tone ring that sits along the upper edge of the rim so it's set up to ring til the cows come home! It's all original and quite nice with no missing hardware , original neck brace, original dowel stick, original endbolt and a Remo plastic head that is tight and good sounding. Also includes original walnut resonator attached with one center bolt (knurled for easy removal by hand). The back of the resonator does show scratches but would likely be easy enough to tidy up with some Watco Danish oil or, if you prefer, a new clear coat. Includes original 19 fret 3-piece walnut tenor neck!...neck is good....missing a small piece of neck binding and has some fingerboard checking that would be an easy fix. The dowel stick tenon fits nice and snug right into the neck socket...should be easy enough to glue it up and get yourself a tenor!! Dowel stick tenon on the original stick is unmodified and remains of the same size, dimensions and profile as when factory assembled. This original prewar Maybell pot is an outstanding value and it's ready for the neck of your choice. ...put the original back on for a tenor or install a conversion 5 string or plectrum...tough to find a deal like this on a top American prewar banjo........
