I purchased this 1929 TB3 already converted to an RB3 via a curly maple neck with ebony fretboard. The photo of the banjo in the case shows the condition in which I received (raised head, modern Presto, one inlay in wrong place, etc.). Subsequent to acquiring it, I converted it to a speed neck, installed Keith D-tuners on 2 and 3, and complemented them with a Price SL5 tailpiece. The original 40-hole ring produced a lot of ringiness and bleeding of one note into another and two different set-up specialists could not get rid of this, so I had Roger Siminoff install a chrome McPeake conversion ring in it.  The original ring is not included in the auction and I never had possession of the tenor neck. Its sound is remarkably close to my pre-war RB75 flathead. The banjo is not what I would call a "looker" but if you want a strong jamming or performing banjo that will knock the socks off the listeners, I believe that you’ll have some fun with this one!
