I have owned these since the 1970's They are racked but would be better joined with through rods. Fine as in when in rack. Easy to install correct rods. I never had them. The top covers can be replaced with a single large piece if you so desire. Again- a non-issue when racked. Amazing on kick drum, snare, bass guitars. Just the right attack/release. Tap the kick or snare before going to Protools to get tape compression feel. These are the original real deal - Not a later re-issue.; Super rare these days.
