Yamahas "100th Anniversary Special"   GC1S "Silent Series" Don't buy new!   Definately the most useful electronic feature is the "Silent Series", originally puchased new in 2002 this Yamaha GC1S 5'3" Baby Grand Piano is still factory fresh as it was recently purchased out of an estate. If you are not familiar with the function of the Silent Series it enables the pianist to practice with no sound except for what is generated to your headphones. With the flip of a switch the acoustic sound can be returned. In addition this feature allows the piano to be fully MIDI capable. Use this piano as a MIDI controller to play other keyboards or external tone modules. You can even record into a computer for playback over the same tone modules. This function makes the piano extremely versatile. Condition of the piano is new, after spending it's life so far in a livingroom one would not be able to tell the difference from a GC1 fresh out of the crate. Hardware, strings, soundboard, finish are perfect with no flaws. I guess Yamaha felt generous with the GC1S since this is the only GC1 with the "SLO CLOSE" fallboard up until now only found on "C" Series models.
