Description
This is a gorgeous Wurlitzer electric piano (classroom electronic piano) model 214  in excellent refurbished condition, customized beautifully in black!!! Most of this piano is in mint condition. This auction is     FOR PICKUP ONLY, as it's just too big to ship. I have a small truck, and if needed, I can deliver a reasonable distance, as long as you help me load it into the truck & supply fuel cost. I live 30 miles west of Chicago. I was intending to keep this, but rough financial times have forced me to sell. Many, many hours of labor went into this piano. This piano is fully functioning, but could use a fine tuning, as there are some keys louder than others. All keys/reeds work & are in tune. This model has vibrato, it works fine. This has the same type of amplifier as the 200/200a models, although this one seems louder, maybe because of the speaker configuration. It is equipped with four 8" round speakers, mounted in the base; 2 face the player, 2 face the audience. It also has the 1/4" auxillary output for connection to an external amplifier. The base & top used to be ugly avacodo green (see pic) & now it's black. I used quality paint for this, including a special paint made specifically for plastic on the lid (in & out). I carefully taped off the trim, you won't find a hint of the old color anywhere. I also removed & repainted the caster assemblys and the hinges gold. I doubt anyone can argue that the paint job is very professionaly done- even close-up in person. It has no dents, scratches or dings, with the sole exception of the area on part of the grill cloth which is pictured..this was there when I got the piano; looks like a factory mistake from tightening the screw too tight. Flaws: It could use a fine tuning to adjust volume differences in some keys. The brackets for the power cord were not painted, and one is mounted a bit crooked, as the original mounting holes were stripped. The vibrato knob is missing the inner clip which holds it tight to the potentiometer. This can likely be obtained from several sources online. The original faceplate is slightly worn (I considered replacing it with a new 200 faceplate, but wanted to keep it original/gold.) The paint job on the lid is a bit glossier than normal. The keys...when I got the piano, they had stickers on all of them, and removing the stickers & cleaning just didn't do the trick, so I had to individually work each key carefully with scotchbrite to get the white back. (many hours of labor here) As a result, they are no longer glossy, but they are clean/white again. They feel almost the same as normal keys, I think they look/feel more like ivory keys now. The front part of the plastic cap on key #16 (white key) is starting to come loose. I was unable to glue/force it back into place. It is also missing one of the 3 screws which hold down the lid. These are very easily obtainable. 2 screws hold it down fine. I don't even use these screws on my 200a. I did the complete action regulation on this piano this last year, but it will need fine tuning, and I simply don't have the time to do any more work on this. Most of the time consuming/difficult work is done. This is what I did: removal of all keys & vacuumed out insides, complete cleaning, key easing, proper key height set, squared & leveled, keys spaced, lost motion & let off adjusted, damper sustain adjusted, leveled & regulated. It has a 14 foot long power cord(original), and also a built in 110v accessory outlet. The classroom models came equipped with 1/4" tape-in, tape-out, and aux amp jacks, as well as an rca phono jack (all should work). Also has the slide-out tray. Does not come with music stand or bench. NOTE: Recently I sold a 26 year old Marshall amp head on Ebay, and the buyer chose to complain that it smelled like cigarette smoke, which in my opinion can be typical of something 25+ years old, which was most likely used in smoke filled clubs etc.. I actually spent hours cleaning it before selling, but some people will look for anything to complain about. I have kept this piano covered since doing the work on it, but since it is 30+ years old, and I did smoke while working on it, I now must state that it might smell a bit like cigs. I also must state that this is a used item, sold as-is, and I don't offer refunds. I have done the best I can to honestly decribe this piano, and you are more than welcome to contact me & come over & test it before you bid. I live 30 miles west of Chicago. Please ask any questions before bidding ends. I have many more pictures of this piano, before, during, and after customizing. Contact me if you need to see more pics. (the pics shown just don't do it justice) Payment I accept postal money orders, cashiers checks, cash in person, and Paypal. I reserve the right to cancel bids from those with excessive negative feedback. Piano will be released once payment clears my bank. Again, this is FOR PICKUP ONLY. Happy bidding, good luck and rock on! I will be auctioning off more pianos/music equipment soon, so keep an eye out, or add me as a favorite.
