Description
I have a fantastic sounding, handmade Weissenborn style, lap slide guitar for auction.I've just reduced the starting price from $Aust 1,190.00 to $Aust 980.00, and included a "Buy it now" for $Aust 990.00.It's a "Superior" brand Weissenborn. These guitars are EXTREMELY rare in Australia, and are only sold from one place in the USA, Berkeley Music in California. I had mine imported several months ago, so it's almost brand new. I asked Berkeley Music to pick out one that had the warmest, woodiest tone...............and believe me this Weissenborn has one of the sweetest tones I've ever heard from any instrument. It's a truly beautiful sounding, extremely responsive instrument with a VERY balanced tone. Neither the treble nor mids nor bass dominate........it's very balanced, much more so than the other modern Weissenborn reproductions I've owned and played. It has what I call a VERY sweet "Hawaiian" tone. It definitely DOES NOT have the usual "tight" tone of a new guitar; it sounds warm, rich and 'broken in". I fingerpick blues/folk/country and even some classical Indian sounding stuff, and the guitar is absolutely fantastic for all these various styles. It has a top quality solid cedar top and truly beautiful solid Palo Escrito (rosewood) back and sides. It has a full gloss finish. It's in as new condition, no dings. The action is 3/8" all along the fretboard, which is high enough to allow use of a capo such as the Beard capo. Included is a good quality hard case. It's an extremely beautiful instrument to look at. It would suit professional use, be it on stage or in the recording studio (it records VERY well indeed).I'm selling it basically because I can never make up my mind..........over the past few years I've been switching between guitar and dulcimer. When I desire a dulcimer I sell the guitar to finance it, and when I desire a guitar I sell the dulcimer to finance it. Trouble is I always buy extremely high quality instruments and can usually never afford to have 2 top quality instruments at once. With the proceeds from this sale I'll be having a purpose built lap slide dulcimer built for me by luthier David Lynch in the USA. So that's why I'm selling.Shipping, via Greyhound Freight, to most places in Australia is around $60 or so. Email me with your exact location and I'll give you an exact shipping quote. I'd prefer to use Greyhound Freight because I've used them many times in the past for musical instruments and so far have never had one single problem. They specialise in delicate items. Here's a sound sample of me playing my Superior http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?q1gn05pv9ncOr contact me with you email address and I will email you the mp3 sound sample. It's best to listen through headphones in order to hear the tone accurately as small computer speakers don't usually reproduce the bass and mids very accurately.Any enquiries welcomed, and will usually be answered within a day or so.The instrument will be packed EXTREMELY WELL (I have plenty of experience at that). I'll expect good, fast communication and quick payment from the winning bidder. As soon as the funds are received the guitar will be shipped IMMEDIATELY, and the bidder quickly informed.Thanks..PS: I'll onlly accept bids from overseas (outside Australia) if the bidder contacts me BEFORE bidding. The overseas shipping costs via Australia Post can be pretty high....to the USA or Europe shipping via airmail is Aust$212 and insurance for $1,200 is $33, making a total shipping cost of Aust$245. Delivery time can be from about 1 week to 2 weeks depending on where you live. I'm a bit nervous about sending it overseas, but it WILL be packed strongly. So far, I've received one guitar from overseas, and shipped one guitar overseas, and both guitars arrived undamaged.
