(571) About me: I am a retired band director. I taught band for 30 years, so I have a pretty good idea of what you need for your child to get a good start in band. You will need a good quality instrument that looks nice and is in perfect working order. A used instrument is just fine if it is in good playing condition. A nice appearance is not so important, but the student will appreciate a good-looking instrument and case. Every instrument I sell is guaranteed to be nice and in good playing condition, nothing junky, nothing smelly or nothing broken. My instruments are guaranteed ready to take to band the day you get it. I know, I personally go over every instrument and make necessary repairs. Then I play it to make sure it is all OK.
