Description
I am not a banjo expert! Appears to be an original, old tenor (I say tenor because there are 19 frets) banjo with resonator. Necks looks very straight, 11" head intact, 13" wood back cover in real good shape with no cracks or repairs. Most, but not all of logo is gone from mother of pearl headstock. Tuning pegs in working order. Looks like there should be 22 tension rods (? to hold and tune the head), but there are only 18. Two small clamps, presumably for a strap. Mother of pearl band around the wood back cover. May be a brass tailpiece. Bridge also in good shape. I am open to knowledge and information from eBayers out there that know a lot more about banjos than I do! Someone suggested that this could be a Slingerland May Bell, but there are no such markings on it, so I can't say for sure. Based upon old 1920's and 1930's banjo catalogs, I would say that this banjo is from that era. Feel free to email or call if you think I can help with any questions. 317.695.0696. Better yet, come see and play it near Indy! Lower 48 only, please.
