Description
I am selling what I believe to be a late 1800's possibly American made violin.  I cannot find a name anywhere on it.  There is a number visible, 202, penciled in thru f hole.  This violin is high quality with herringbone trim and curly maple back and sides.  The headstock is what appears to be a hand carved lion head in the top of it.  The violin is in excellent conditon with no cracks or breaks.  The varnish is somewhat worn on the neck.  I also have what I believe to be the original case.  The case is made of solid wood with brass hardware that dates to the 1800's. The top of the case does show cracking from age, but it is workable and solid. There is a label on the inside of the case, which is not completely legible, but reads, 15th Exhibition 1884.  Founded 1795.  Massachusetts.  High ---- Award.  And there is more writing on this label which is not completely legible.  There is no bow with this violin.  Due to my limited knowledge about violins I am selling this piece AS IS, for the purchase price I gave nearly 15 years ago.  Please email any questions and thank you for looking.  I hope that the pictures will do the talking!!!!
