NeedsTLC' Description Here is a vintage Supertone 5-string banjo to restore. The neck is sraight. Appears to be a maple neck. The tailpiece is on the banjo. All inlaid dots are present but one. The tuning head has had 4 mechanical tuners applied to it and although they appear to be old, I have an idea that the original tuners were friction pegs that came in from the back. The fifth string tuner is missing as is the fifth-string slotted rest. rest. The fretboard has a lot of finger wear up to the fifth fret. The strut and neck and the fastening hardware are fine. The fretboard is likely ebony and the tuning head plate looks like ebony. The star inlay is mother-of-pearl. The frets are not bad. The skin head has a few holes and needs replaced. The banjo has 38 brackets on it and are all orignal and present. Only one bracket nut is not original and does not match the others. Head is 10.5". This intrument can be fixed up very well. I know I could make it both beautiful and ready to play if I had the time. Some of you out there could do it also. If it does not sell, I will restore whenever I find the time.
