The frets are ok for an almost 100 year old instrument. Own a piece of history this banjo is orignal and the serial number seems to be number 24 I have been able to date this to the early start of the slingerland company. Apparently Mr. Slingerland earned his business the old fashion way, by winning it in a card game in the early 1900's. From there the Slingerland Legacy began and you wont find to many original pieces like this one still able to be restored to playing level.
