Special ordered in 1978 with a custom kit. This drum was used only for a few years and has been safely stored unplayed in a home for 25 years. The condition is excellent and pristine, rating 10/10. The body, rims and lugs have no rust. Only a slight amount of pitting can be seen up close on the side of the throw-off lever after 30 years. I'm the original owner and will warrant this snare drum functions like new and all parts are original except for a new Remo Ambassdor coated batter head just installed. The original bottom head remains on the snare side, but I will also include a new Remo Ambassador replacement with this purchase. The buyer can also have the original top head that I kept, if you wish. This 1978 B4514 Professional snare drum shares the same heavy chrome over brass shell as the model known as the Jupiter. It has the Professional Gladstone type throw-off instead of the parallel style strainer, so the snare wires can be easily replaced if ever needed. A catalog error that year actually switched the photos of the models, so there is often confusion between the two. I have confirmed directly with Pearl Drums, using the photos above, that in this particular period both models shared the same brass shell. Stewart Copeland of The Police used this same type of Pearl snare drum in the 1980s on their many hits.
