My research showed that this Oriole brand was a private label built by Gibson. Since it is only slightly over 31 inches long it is called a banjolele. I picked it up at a garage sale and the elderly gentleman said that he bought it when he was much younger, in the 60’s. At this same garage sale I also picked up an all metal Dixie banjolele. It is on a separate e-bay listing. The Oriole banjolele is a 4 string instrument, weighing approximately 4.5 pounds The total length of the neck is 20 inches. The drum diameter is 11 inches and the skin appears to be in great condition. The skin is a Remo Fiberskyn 2. There are 22 turnbuckles. Pease forgive me for not knowing the proper name for the parts. It appears that one of the tuners is a different style, but a very close match. Check out the pictures. Although I can’t play it, it appears to be in good playable condition.
