Description
BACHornDoctor Auction AMAZING!! Vintage F.E. Olds Opera Large Bore Tenor Trombone!! .547 Bore, Excellent Condition!! Rare!! Previously Owned by a trombonist of the Kansas City Symphony!! This would make someone VERY happy for the Holiday Season!! Photos Below Description: Up for auction is this very nice Olds Opera professional level trombone. This is a large bore (.547") straight tenor trombone that would be perfect for use in orchestra, wind band, chamber music, or solo work. This instrument was previously owned by a professional trombonist who recently retired from the Kansas City Symphony after 50 years of membership! As such, it is a wonderful hand-picked instrument that has been well maintained and cared for. The serial number is 226xxx, which puts the date of manufacture in late 1956 to early 1957. This instrument was made in the Fullerton, California facility. This horn features a yellow brass, two-piece bell that measures 8.5 inches in diameter. Also, the handslide features brass outer tubes and crook. For its age, the instrument is in phenomenal shape. There is very little cosmetic lacquer loss throughout the instrument, and the horn is free of any major dents, dings, or scratches. Mechanically, the horn is in good working order. The handslide feels quick and smooth, and the tuning slide pulls freely. This trombone has been used at the highest levels of music making. The Olds Opera is a fairly uncommon trombone, so be sure to take advantage of our low reserve and take home a rare horn with a gorgeous sound and a wonderful history! Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!
