This is a RARE find for old-time lovers of the 5-string!  Here is your  Bacon Folk Model Long Neck 5-String Banjo...a vintage instrument (#52279 - stamped over #52280??) - we all have our bad days!    This is the long-neck, open back folk model; just tune her up and you will never take a "back seat" to ANYONE!  Watch the folks gather from miles around! This banjo is in LIKE NEW condition - I have owned her since the early 60's   and sometimes dreamed of playing a bit like Pete Seegar.  Gretsch purchased the Bacon Banjo Co. in the early 1940's.  Research suggests that this instrument was made in the mid-50's. I purchased this in the early 1960's; owner claimed to have had it for 5 to 6 years.  The carved outline "BACON" on the peghead plus the silver plaque seems to confirm this information.
