Description
THis is from a large collection of vintage instruments owned by my bass player's father, who passed away a few years back. He had some REALLY cool vintage pieces, Gibson mandolins, Martin guitars, Fender guitars, etc. His collection was extensive, and all of the instruments were of good quality. This is one them:VINTAGE LYRIC BANJO -- these were made by the Gretsch guitar company, and likely dates between 1920-1940 according to the information I have found on the internet.33.75" IN LENGTH -- 19 FRETSRIGHT HANDED4 STRINGSUSA MADE GROVER BRIDGE AND TUNERSBEAUTIFUL MOTHER OF PEARL INLAY -- EBONY FINGERBOARDMADE IN USA!The Bridge is included, although not pictured. It is in the compartment inside the case.Neck is straight, frets look good. All this banjo will need is a new head,a setup, and a new set of strings. Bridge is marked "Grover USA"Tuners are marked made in USA as well. This is a very rare banjo, I have not been able to find much information about them on the internet! The nice quality hardshell case is in excellent condition as well!Beautiful maple neck, very smooth and nice. The inlay work is spectacular, and it appears to be an ebony fretboard. This is a USA MADE custom banjo, not some cheap newer import! MADE IN USA by the Fred Gretsch company, and these were only made from the late 20s to the 1940s.Bidding starts at only 99 cents!Shipping to Canada will be $49.SOLD AS IS -- AS PICTURED!!!On Oct-01-08 at 15:08:53 PDT, seller added the following information: On Oct-01-08 at 20:40:47 PDT, seller added the following information:
