Description
Up for auction is a no-name cornet in the shape and style of the Courtois cornets. It comes with a case and a few accessories. The valves are stamped "88, 89, and 90" respectively. The bottom valve caps are stamped likewise. There appear to be no other markings on this horn. It does have a delightful mute which is 6 3/16" long x 2 13/16" around at the largest point. It is approx. 7/8" around at the small end of the mute. The case has a side pouch for music and is in generally good condition. I do not know if the case and the horn are original to each other, but I offer them as found.Condition:   This case is in good condition but the leather handle may be a later replacement. There is some damage to the now-fragile leather side pouch. There is no key for the case.  The horn has various dents: the bell is wrinkled a bit, and there are dents to the crook of the bell section. All valves are free but all slides are stuck. The tuning slide receiver is unsoldered at the lower sleeve where it joins the leadpipe. The receiver appears to have been relacquered and is presently stuck to the tuning slide. The tuning slide can be removed, but this receiver portion comes off of the lead pipe section. The long straight extra lead shank is missing its tapered fitting and one of the little balls on the side where the mouthpiece would go. The mute corks are getting worn.I ship to the U. S.
