Description
Up for auction is this Fender Jazz bass guitar which is believed to a 1966. According to the serial number it is a 1966. The serial number is 176466. This guitar is in great condition for its age and mileage. There are no major flaws or damage, just small marks from pleasurable use. This guitar was owned and played my John Meehan, bass player for the Wings Of Freedom, the Sue Miles Band, The Bone Jars and a few others along life's path. **** Mr Meehan asks to be excused for his error, it is a 1966 and explains the modifications to this excellent bass: Finger rest has been moved to top of pickup so you can rest your thumb and play with your fingers.....top cover of pick guard removed for thumb rest ..... neck has been customized, neck is perfect, fastest I have ever played. This is a players bass the ultimate in speed and sound quality. The nut is original....... The case shown in the picture is not the case it will come with. This one has seen better days. It will come packed nicely in a new case. It functions and sounds great and does have all the original hardware. A treaure for sure! Shipping will be paid by the buyer at actual cost. There is no 'handling' fee. Shipping method and payment arrangements will be mutually agreed upon by the buyer and the seller. **I have had 6 great people let me know that this is probably a 1966 rather than a 1962. They seem to know a whole lot more about these things than I do. Mr.Meehan generously donated this guitar to the Signs of Victory Ministries , a great local organization that runs 2 homeless shelters, a food bank, a church and many other things to benefit those less fortunate. I am simply a volunteer with Ebay experience who is doing the listings for them. I have left Mr. Meeham a message for further clarification and will post the results as soon as I hear. We thank those for letting us know we may be in error here. We sincerely do not want to misrepresent anything we sell on Ebay. ***We have looked up the serial number and it says it is a 1966. Someone also believes that the body has been stripped & refinished, also that the nut has been replaced, and the thumb rest has been moved resulting in new holes drilled in the pickguard. I assume that all you guitar people know a lot more about these guitars than I do, so I wanted to mention these things in an effort to be honest. it still is a great quitar! ** All proceeds from these Ebay sales go directly to the Signs of Victory where no one is paid, everyone involved with this place are volunteers, all monies go directly to supporting all thier efforts.
