Start Price USD 15,685.00 Current Price USD 15,685.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price USD 23,500.00 Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, September 08, 2008 End Time Monday, September 15, 2008 Location Gilroy, California See more about 'Vintage 1964 Fender Stratocaster w/ Tremolo & OHSC NR' Description NEW Jensen Vintage Reissue C12Q 8 Vintage 1964 Fender Stratocaster with Tremolo Bar & OHSC - NO Reserve DESCRIPTION Vintage 1964 Fender Stratocaster Guitar with Tremolo Bar and Original Hard Shell Case.  This is a pre-CBS, real Leo Fender 1964 Stratocaster!  This guitar looks and plays great and is ready to hit the stage or the display case!  I purchased this guitar from the personal collection of the owner of Guitar Showcase in San Jose, CA.  Prior to that, it sat behind the glass case in Guitar Showcase's vintage room with a "NOT FOR SALE" sign on it.  I even saved Guitar Showcase's vintage room tag that states it is "Not For Sale" and it  is included with this auction (shown in picture below).  I had the opportunity to play this guitar many years ago, it just had "the mojo" and I fell in love with it.  But, it wasn't for sale.  Anyway, as they say, "timing is everything".  Several years later, I walked into Guitar Showcase on the day they took in another 1964 Stratocaster and I was able to talk the owner out of this one.  The new one he took in had a couple less dings, but this one played and sounded WAY better. Pickups are strong and the guitar sounds awesome, the neck and fingerboard show very little signs of wear and I absolutely love the feel of the neck! Guitar Showcase's tag states the guitar is all original, except for a 5-way pickup selector switch.  However, the original 3-way pickup selector switch is INCLUDED with this auction (shown in picture below).  I also disassembled the guitar and inspected it myself.  All screws are tight and none are stripped or overtightened.  Everything is original, solder joints are untouched (except for the replaced 5-way switch), and everything dates to 1964.  The only item I'm not sure about are the frets.  The frets look in too good a condition to be original, but then the fingerboard shows very little wear, so it is possible they are original.  To be honest, I can't say for sure.  But, I can say everything else checks out and is original. The neck date stamp is "2 JUN 64 B" (June 2, 1964).  The potentiometers are dated 137-6422 (CTS, 1964 22nd week). This guitar is out of my personal collection and this is a personal sale, so NO sales tax for California (CA) residents.
