The Bluegrass Wonder uses a Deering 3 ply maple rim that has been machined to the shape or contour of a typical bronze Flathead tone-ring at the contact point where the head stretches over the rim.  This simple idea results in a slightly warmer and more woody tone than the typical heavy Bronze tone ring offers.  Total weight is 6.9 lb…MUCH easier on the back and shoulders than a typical Bluegrass banjo.An ideal banjo for the player with high tonal expectations and a good choice for players with back and neck problems who suffer because of the weight of the full bronze tone ring and full one piece flange of a typical Bluegrass banjo. The Fretboard is Macassar Ebony and inlaid with mother-of-pearl dots. Finished in a satin finish with a slender “modern” Deering neck profile and fitted with the latest version deluxe Deering Planetary tuners.The Pot:•Standard Vega 11" Multi-ply maple rim,  a “Mastertone” style armrest, Deerings unique tailpiece (best tailpiece in the business !!)  Deering’s own air-dried, rock maple bridge.  Premium Deering head.
