Description
I need to find a new home for a fantastic sounding Viola: Viola - Size 16 1/2 The Violin House of Weaver - Bethesda, Maryland Purchased around 1988 - Rudoulf Doetsch #4155 Copy of an Antonio Stradivarius Bow - W.E. Dorfler Originally paid $650 (so lightly used the price sticker is still on the bow!) Handsomely crafted, the Dorfler name is well received and is considered a leader in the German bow making industry. Everything is in mint condition, the viola hasn't been played or handled in years and was purchased in the mid-late 1980s when I was taking private Viola lessons from a member of the Detroit Symphony (my main instrument at the time was the Violin so I only played the viola ocassionally). The case is like new and also has a front pocket - a well made case with lock and keys included (never used). I've been told it's a high quality case. Also includes a tube for strings and a packet for 'care and feeding' of Rudoulf Doetsch instrument. Also, I just put a new set of high quality Dominant Viola strings. ---------------------- What various shops have said about the Rudoulf Doetsch Violas: -Rudoulf Doetsch violins are famous, Our Doetsch violins are the product of our collaboration with the Violin House of Weaver, which is a third-generation business existing for a hundred years. The basic instrument is made in Europe, then re-worked in the USA. They look old, being slightly distressed and antique-varnished with Bill Weaver's own unique soft Italianate varnish. Being made in the German tradition of the collaborative method of building instruments, each step of the way our Rudoulf Doetsch instruments are in the hands of specialists. The violins are very popular with advanced student players. For instance, top Florida student violinist Suliman Tekalli used a Gainesville Violins Rudoulf Doetsch for all the prizes he won until the end of 2001, when at age 15 he traded it in for one of our professional Liuteria Panis Angelicus violins. Similarly, former Florida student violist Adam Schoeni (now in South Carolina) used a Doetsch viola until he traded it in for a professional 17" replica of a Mateo Goffriller from Gainesville Violins and associated workshops. Made in Erlangen, Germany from aged spruce and maple. Refined, inspected and hand varnished in U.S. by the shop of Mr. William Weaver. Our most popular European instruments. The Rudoulf Doetsch instruments are made in a time-honored workshop-method tradition by a collaboration of family workshops in Erlangen, Germany. Necks, scrolls, ribs, tops, and backs are each carved separately and are then assembled into instruments by a master luthier. They are then sent to the United States where Mr. William Weaver and his assistants remove the tops to make internal tonal adjustments, check and correct neck size and graduation, replace the bass bars, and hand-varnish each one. ---------------------- Buyer agrees to $45 insured shipping via FedEx Home Delivery with tracking.  Paypal ok - money order/cashiers checks must clear before shipment.  As with all of my auctions on ebay - all items sold as is - all sales final. Welcome to pick up locally.  Payment must be received within 7 days of auction close unless worked out prior with seller.  I'm flexible - just don't want to be waiting weeks/months on end.  I've been on ebay for nearly 9 years with positive feedback and want to work out a good transaction.  Also -Please dont send me emails asking if I ship to Zimbabwe or something.  I only ship within the continental US at this time - Not Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, APO addresses, etc.  I love you guys and I love all your countries - but I can't stand dealing with shipping and insurance across the border.  I just want to find a home for my viola, not argue with customs agents about merchandise value or UPS centers about import duty taxes being charged back to me and all of that.  If you really want it that bad - please have someone with a US ebay account who is braver than I bid for you, and I'll ship it to them to pass along to you!
