The Blackwood Uilleann Chanter comes with two reeds and plays two octaves from Low to high D. It has 3 brass keys which provide additional C, G# and F notes. This set comes with a blackwood keyed chanter, this does not come with a mouthpiece and must be played plugged in to the starter set. Note: The uillean set contains some blackwood and some rosewood parts. The large stock where the drones attach to the bag as well as the sides of the bellows are rosewood due to the high cost and unavailability of blackwood in pieces this large. The parts that attach to the chanter are blackwood. The bag and bellows are made of synthetic material to keep the pipes airtight. Leather would breathe and would have to be sealed periodically with bag seal. Great Highland pipes benefit from breathing due to the saliva that ends up in the bag and therefore do better with a leather bag to let this moisture out.
