Description
Here is a vintage Trident 65 Series mixing console, with 24 channels (23 working!!), 16 busses, 8 Auxiliary sends, and 4 stereo effects returns. It has the wide, rich, organic, and warm tone one expects from vintage Trident, but perhaps a bit tighter and punchier than an 80B, due to op amps versus transformers. The console has been "in the family" here in Maryland for quite a while, originally purchased by Paul Leavitt, then installed in my Barn studio, then sold to Brian McTernan for a proposed "B" room at Salad Days, then back to Joe Mitra and me in the Barn where it has resided on and off for the past four years in a professional smoke-free environment.Paul paid a little over $5k for it originally and spent some time and money getting it operational. Several of the original channel strips were toast, and Paul replaced them with strips from a newer 65 - hence the two strips with the plastic knobs instead of the vintage metal knobs. It also came with an add-on patch bay which none of us ever hooked up. The console frame has space for this bay, but it is long gone. All connections are via the rear panel:24 - XLR mic inputs with individually switched +48V phantom power24 - 1/4" line inputs24 - 1/4" direct outs24 - 1/4" insert sends and returns8 - 1/4" group insert sends and returns16 - XLR group outputs16 - 1/4" tape returns8 - XLR aux sends2 - XLR stereo mix out (L+R)4 - 1/4" echo returns6 - 1/4" stereo tape returns (3 - two track returns, i,e. your computer stereo output, mixdown device, a CD and/or tape player)2 - XLR monitor outProblems: 1. Channel one has never worked and is missing, and lately channel 7 is dicey (it powers up, but produces no audio of any kind in or out.) I have an extender card to troubleshoot the strips, and a good tech can probably sort it out.2. One mic pre knob is loose, but pot and stem are fine.3. Aux 8 master level knob is broken off at the stem. (both knobs exist and will come with the console.)4. A few of the lights on the meter bridge are burned out and tricky to replace.Beyond these minor details, (well, ok, one missing and one dicey strip are not that minor), the console works beautifully. As on any old Trident, a few of the pots are scratchy but functioning. I have owned several Trident consoles (80B, 70, and this 65) and this one is my favorite for sound, small footprint, ease of connection, and lack of trouble. It has never failed me. It is currently hooked up to a Digidesign Protools HD system and adds depth, clarity, warmth, and stereo width to the final mixes. It comes with the original power supply and a steel base/stand. The manual is long gone.Delivery by USPS or UPS ground, or possibly delivery if within 250 miles of 20833 (distance and travel expense negotiable, including setup if needed).Paypal, certified check, or USPS money order only please.Due to the vintage-ness of the console, it is sold AS DESCRIBED, no warranties expressed or implied.I have an entire sleeve of TL071 op amp chips, as well as a small assortment of various caps and parts for the power supply that are included in the sale.I have lowered the price and altered the shipping information.Weight: approx. 200lbs. cratedDimensions: approx. 50"x31"x12" without the stand.
