Description
This Grand Piano is a 5’10.5” 1998 Model L Steinway & Sons Piano. It is a Crown Jewel Collection East Indian Rosewood Grand with a high gloss finish. It features a special edition medallion marking its rarity. The piano bench is included in the sale of the piano. Crown Jewel Collection Pianos are prized for their exquisite color and wood grain which are gathered from around the world. Steinway & Sons craftsmen meticulously match the grain from one end of the piano to the other, even across the beveled edge of the lid. Each Steinway Piano requires a year of meticulous craftsmanship to create. The appraised worth of the piano is $65,000.00. The appraisal was performed by Lou Thiry, a member of The Piano Technicians Guild Inc. It is in need of some action regulation before it should be played in a concert setting but is otherwise in perfect condition. A photo of the appraisal receipt and Mr. Thiry’s business card has been uploaded for viewing. Steinway pianos have set an uncompromising standard for sound, touch, beauty, and investment value (www.steinway.com). According to a Washington Post survey, Steinway Pianos are shown to appreciate greater over time than gold, Mercedes Benz, wine, and vintage power boats (Washington Post; 2 February 1987). This should be particularly enticing to anyone looking for a sound investment during the current financial crunch. According to a Businessweek.com article entitled Steinway worth much more than a song, “If you bought a 9-foot concert grand Steinway in 1975 for $25,000, for instance, it would sell for more than $100,000 today, says Leo Spellman, senior director of communications at Steinway & Sons. The very oldest Steinways command as much as 13 times their original price, and many are still in good condition—the durability of the instruments makes them very hard to damage.” The owner of this beautiful instrument is a recent graduate from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas who is moving abroad to pursue a career in France. For this reason, the instrument must be sold as soon as possible. It is a beautiful instrument that will be cherished for generations to come. Forbes Piano & Organ Company in Birmingham, Alabama uses a piano shipping company which can be used for this piano. The cost of shipping will be approximately $700.00.
