Description
Sonny Jr II SJ2 circa 1996 50watts Harmonica AmpThis is one versatile harp amp. You will be heard with this baby. Whether in your local pub or on a concert stage in Europe this amp will get it done.  The Sonny Jr. II can be played with using only three or all six speakers and is switchable from 110w or 220w. This amp was designed by Sonny Jr.(Gary Onofrio) and Cotton Amps to reproduce that classic Little Walter sound, but with modern reliable components. This amp comes with a nice brown Tuki cover and a couple of old 12AU7A  preamp tubes. When playing at home or while playing at a gig I've always enjoyed this amp's power and big tone. Now you can too. Although this amp is in excellent used condition, it is being sold as-is with no warranty implied or given.Dimensions: W 28 1/2" x H 22 1/2" x D 10 1/8"Weight: 55 poundsSpeakers: 6 eight inch Pyle Drivers (Original Speakers)Here is the full run down on this amp:Tube layout: 5U4 6L6 6L6 6L6 6L6 12AU7 12AT7                                A    A    B     BThis amp has two output transformers, each driving 3 speakers. The ohms switch for each output is under the chassis, each should be set at 4 ohms (2,4, 8 possible). You can plug in another cab into either section, set ohms to 2 if doing so.If you want to run only one transformer, you must pull the pair of power tubes of output not being used. For instance, if you take the speaker jack from the left side and plug it into the right side as external speakers (looking at the back of the amp), now running all 6 speakers on one output, you would pull tubes A,A., as you have taken the load off that output transformer. The same would apply if running all speakers to the left side, you would pull B,B. power tubes. Failure to do so could result in a blown output transformer. There is a line out that will allow you to run this amp directly into a PA system with 1/4" to 1/4" cable. The four tube gains are as follows:12AU7 = 20 gain, lowest12AY7 = 40 gain12AT7 = 70 gain12AX7 = 100 gainWith the inverter as a 12AU7, (preamp tube closest to the power tubes), this allows the best saturation and allows the  power tubes to drive harder. As you can find out by experimenting, any use of a higher gain tube will result in more feedback than usable wattage. You can try other preamp tunes in the far right preamp, which had a 12AT7 stock, such as a 12AX7 for more cut and power, or a 12AY7 for more distortion. To get the best projection out of the amplifier, use the tone controls in conjunction with the volume control, not just the volume. Increasing the treble will make the amp cut and project greatly if done slowly, work the amp as you do  to find the right range for you.You can also use a 5AR4 rectifier for more wattage, whether that is a better sound is up to you. Sonny Jr. found this set up too harsh and used the 5U4 withe the proper tone set up to get the best results. The amp does not require biasing when installing new power tubes, it runs each side in Class A, power tubes are on all the time, not oscillating as in Class A/B (Bassman). The tone of a Class A amplifier is classic, the tubes do run hotter as you will notice.NOTE: This amp is now for sale to International buyers as well Domestic buyers.PAYPAL ONLY...
