Description
This is a true vintage Slingerland be-bop outfit with a matching snare and an authentic 18” bass drum, not a converted floor tom. The rack tom is 8”x12”, the floor tom is 14”x14”, and the snare 5”x14”. The badges are black oval Niles badges and there are tan interiors. The finish is green glass glitter applied by one of the best drum restorers in the business, Jack Lawton. As far as I know this kit was completely gone through by him before I owned it. The condition is excellent to near mint—this is one of the cleanest vintage sets you will find. The chrome is superb and shows very little pitting and scratches. The heads have very little playing time and are in great shape (coated Ambassadors on tops, smooth white on bottoms, PS3 on kick with smooth white logo head on front). The kit sounds tremendous and will cost you many thousands less than a Gretsch of the same era and in the same sizes. True vintage be-bop kits are increasingly difficult to come by. This is a superb instrument with no issues that I am aware of. Unless you viciously scrutinize, the set looks virtually new. It is, however, a decades-old instrument that has been played, so you will of course find some miniscule things here and there. Included: the tom mount (good working condition, shows some minor signs of use), aftermarket floor tom legs, and a very nice Beato bag for the bass drum. Snare stand not included. Continental U.S. bidders only, please. Unless you select BIN, shipping is $125 (I will need to get a few packing materials, like bubble wrap, which is not cheap).
