The Bakers were a musical entertainment group from New Hampshire about as well known as the Hutchinson Family (who in fact performed some of the songs written by John C. Baker). Cover showing the six Bakers, captioned with their names (Jasper S., John C., Emily E., Sophia M, Henry F., and George E.). This song, The Barber's Shop #8 in the series. Song has 6 comic verses, each with a twist on the theme that "all the world's a Barber's shop" in that everybody is out to fleece us! It also contains an early sort of "LAWYER JOKE". The farmer shaves us with a price, mechanics for their pay, the doctor with a bill, the merchant by tempting vain young women with fine calico, but by far lawyers know how to shave mankind the cleanest!
