Description
Offered here is a nice SELMER MARK VI TENOR SAXOPHONE. This horn was manufactured by H. Selmer of Paris, France, and the serial number, located at the back of the base of the body, is M146380. I am not sure of its exact vintage, but my estimmate is that this horn is from the late 1960's or early 1970's. Selmer produced the Mark VI for nearly twenty years until the introduction of Mark VII modelin 1975. It is in nice playable condition. Two mouthpieces and some other accesories are included. I purchased it back in 1975 when I was an aspiring young musician. I played it a little in a couple of bands, but I soon realized that I didn't really have the talent to be a musician. I had somewhat of a tin ear and had trouble staying in tune. Plus, I was poor at playing improvised solos. The horn basically sat in its case for nearly thirty years. I did have it repaired so that it was in good playing condition. About five years ago, I had it repadded and also had the cork on the neck replaced. A few years ago, I loaned it to a friend of mine who is a real musician, and he used it to lay a few tracks on a CD. When he returned it to me, I was told that the horn was a joy to play with nice tone and good action. I have been informed that the neck is NOT original, and I can find no serial number on the neck. The horn is in very good condition with minimal wear on the surface including some light scratches and scuffs and a few minor dents and dings. The inside of the bell is somewhat tarnished. I am not an authority on tenor saxes and cannot really say if it has been relaquered, and I am also ignorant regarding various other aspects of the horn's condition. The surface of the horn is generally pretty smooth and shiny. The case is in sturdy condition with some light soiling on the surface and moderate wear to the edges and corners. As you know, this model is THE preferred model for numerous profesional jazz, R&B and pop musicians. Among the many artists who have used the Selmer Mark VI are Paul Desmond, Stanley Turrentine, John Coltrane, King Curtis, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, Branford Marsalis, Junior Walker and Clarence Clemons. In short, the Selmer Mark VI is as good as it getsfor tenor saxophones. Although my knowledge is limited, please feel free to make any inquiries, and I will answer any questions to the best of my ability. I am selling this saxophone to residents of the Continental United States only and will ship it via UPS ground to any location for 70.00. You can have the maximum amount insurance added. I am accepting Paypal only and require that this item is paid for within 24 hours of the end of the auction. Thanks for checking out this listing!
