Description
Description - Beast606Rack : Prototype Offered for sale is one of only two final units, from a project that proved too costly in man-hours to be feasible. This "prototype" unit (without s/n) is identical to its twin in all respects, excepting some minor cosmetic imperfections. It is *highly* unlikely that any subsequent units of this type will be built, as the time taken to produce them does not tie up with the expected sale price : ( In short, this machine consists of a donor tr-606 core, which has been extensively modified, and repackaged into a 4u rack enclosure. The extent of this work is not insignificant - there is, for example, only one single external electronic component that has not been replaced (the time signature select switch!). Every thing else you can see (the leds, the pots, the jacks, the buttons, the switches, the power inlet, etc. etc.) is brand new. Custom circuitry has been added, in addition to modifications to the existing paths, to create a machine with as much functionality as possibly within the 4u layout. I have quite a history (some years) of modifying tr-606s / tb-303s (see www.thebeast.co.uk for more information), and not only is this the most complex tr-606 by my hand, it also surpasses any others I have seen previously. Item specifics Fully modified TR-606 in 4u rack enclosure Sync I/O on rear panel Voice editing controls (20-off) Trigger kill switches (7-off) Trigger outputs (5v/buffered) Trigger indicator LEDs Trigger inputs (7-off) Noise reduction mods Pre-mixer audio outputs All tact switches replaced (ALPS) All level pots replaced Rotary switches replaced All jacks replaced All LEDs replaced (blue) Photos (click on each photo for an enlargement) Payment and Handling - The Beast is happy to use pretty much any recognised payment method, including, but not limited to, Cash on collection (We are located in Essex, UK), Bank transfer, UK Cheque, or even the dreaded Paypal. Paypal payments will, however, only be accepted from countries affording full "Seller Protection" - currently limited to US, UK or Canadian buyers (paypal user agreement section 11.3a) As our accounts are dual-currency (Pounds Sterling &Euro), European customers can pay via BACS transfer in Euros, at no extra cost. If paying in Euros, the exhange rates listed by our bank (HSBC) at https://hsss.hsbc.co.uk/ukpersonal/TravelMoney/Calc.jsp will be used at time of invoicing. Non Sterling / Euro BACS payments must have the relevant transfer fees pre-paid by the buyer. From eBay's guidelines : "A handling fee in addition to actual postage cost may be charged" Keeping entirely within ebay rules, a fixed rate handling charge will be applied to all US, UK, and Canadian sales, this being - £31.48 (U.K. buyers) £45.08 (US / Canadian buyers) This must be looked upon as a "fixed rate handling charge", applied to all buyers within the region, regardless of payment type (ie. not a paypal surcharge) to keep within eBay terms, however, we would consider it far fairer if the handling fees were only applied to customers using paypal... Shipping - Items are usually sent with Royal Mail, or, if its a heavy item that needs over £500 (UK) or £150 (international) insurance, Parcelforce. We have not had a lot of trouble with these couriers in the past, and generally find them (Royal Mail especially) to be good value, when compared with the competition. At the auction close, postal methods will be discussed with the buyer, with effort to arrange a method best suited to them. We are flexible with regards to transit method, and insured value *except* where paypal is used as an option, in which case the item must be sent by a tracked and fully insured method, in order to facilitate paypal's fraud protection. As stated, we have not yet had any big problems with either of these couriers, but never want to be in a position of liability due to a courier's small print. In light of this, when a shipping method is agreed upon, the buyer would be encouraged to make sure that the courier can in no way exempt themselves from settling any possible insurance claim, as, in light of any shipping issues, no refund will be made until such time as the claim is settled in full by the courier. For expensive items, or indeed cheap and bulky items, collection is always an option. For such instances, cash on collection is preferred, and paypal unavailable (its in the paypal terms).
