Description
I really hate to sell these, but I need the money, so I'm selling some of my Vintage kits, this being the first. I've had these for a while and have made a few improvements to them since I've had them[ a very nice tom mount, all new heads top and bottom, very nice Gibralter Maple Bass drum rims] I'm certainly not a vintage drum expert, even though I've played drums for a living for over twenty years, so I'll try my best to descibe them as acurately as I can. Starting with the bass drum- It's a 14x20 with the tom mount in the center of the drum, I've seen a lot of these with the mount off to one side. The bearing edges are good and the wrap is nice and tight, even the seams. There are a few minor scratches, almost unnoticeable indoors. I mention indoors because I used them outdoors once and noticed you can see the scratches better in natural sunlight. The finish is really quite nice, very shiny and sparkley, beautiful under stage lights. I cant see any pitting on the chrome, all the chrome on the entire kit is very nice, no rust, no pitting. The T-rods are for the most part pretty good, some of them have a little cracking in the chrome. I replaced the two worst ones with tom lug screws, on either side of the pedal. The two I took off will be included. I had a nice knobby floor tom leg mount that I added as a cymbal holder. Perhaps I shouldn't have drilled it for the mount, but I'm not a stickler for originality and I wanted a bass drum cymbal mount and never thought I would sell them. Grey speckled interior. Unfortunately the paper tag is missing so I dont know the year or model. Aquarian Super Kick II batter side, new Remo head on front with new logo, Evans gated muffler. The kick drum sounds really good, especially miked up.    The 12 inch tom has a little snare rash that I touched up with some blue sparkle nail polish that matches perfectly, it's really hard to see from a couple feet away. On the other side there is a small piece, about the size of a thumb nail missing from the very top of the wrap. It's 90% covered by the head and rim, I took a picture of it but it's not very noticeable. I was going to try and cut a piece from the old inlay to fix it, but never did. I think if you did it right it would be completely hidden. Also, unfortunatly is missing the paper tag.   The 16 inch floor tom is in really good shape, nothing bad to report about it and it has the paper tag. Serial#B 08507--9/72. I imagine they are all 72. All the collets are nice and hold tight.     The Dynasonic snare I purchased from a very reputable vintage drum dealer on the east coast. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better one. If I remember right, it's a '69. It's not missing anything, even has the little rubber tips on the snare cradle. No rust, no pitting, no dents and works and sounds beautiful. The snare wire is missing one strand. Brand new Remo coated ambasador batter, brand new Remo ambasador snare side. Serial# 21549. I bought a new SKB cloth lined case for the Bass drum and since it's the only 20 in. kik I have, I'm selling it with the kit. The ride cymbal mouting arm is a new Ludwig that I was using till I could find a swivo Rogers, I see them once in a while on Ebay, just never got around to buying one. The toms have almost new Evans G2 batters and Remo Ambasadors resonate heads. When I got them, the Bass drum had black plastic rims, the inlay is pretty bad. I dont know if they are original or not but they will be included. Also had most of the original heads, none of which were very good except the front Logo head. It's in really good shape and all will be included.   In the October issue of Modern Drummer, on the kit of the month page, there's a kit that looks very much like this one, although it's a '64. All in all, this is a great sounding and looking kit. You can unpack them and take 'em to the gig the day you get them, they are ready to play. Of all my drum kits, I got more comments about the look and sound of these, than any of the others. I really dont think you will be disapointed at all.           Just a guess on shipping, I'm going to say $100.00. If it's more than that I will cover it, if it's less I will refund any extra. No bids from outside the U.S., lower 48 only please. I just think it would be to expensive and too much trouble to ship overseas. sorry. They will be packed carefully, probably in three boxes. Bass and case in one, tom and floor tom in another, snare carefully packed in another. Thanks for reading this long winded description.  Snare stand, drum rug, and Nomad, not included. As is, no returns so ask any questions before bidding, thanks.
