Description
This EVER-POPULAR REYNOLDS model TB-10 BBb tuba has undergone a complete restoration. There are no dents, the lacquer is new, and the valves are also new. This is a great tuba for a school student or amateur musician. Reynolds tubas were made in the U.S.A. These were the same tuba as the well-known Olds model O-99 tubas and the Bach "Mercedes" model 869 tuba. (In fact, the new/replacement valves are "Bach"-made valves.)As far as size is concerned, the Reynolds (Olds / Bach, etc.) is sort-of in-between what would be referred to as a "full size" tuba and a "3/4"-size tuba. The bore size is c. .650" and the bell diameter is c. 16 inches. No mouthpiece, case, bag, or accessories are included. This tuba is the most popular of all configurations of tubas: *piston* valves / *front*-action / *upright* bellDuring restoration a very small area on the back of the upper bow was covered with a guard (see picture). There are absolutely *no* patches nor thin spots on the bell flare.SHIPPING: We have no control over the eBay shipping estimator thing (below). We seriously doubt that this tuba could safely be squeezed into an under-130-inch carton. More likely, it will have to be placed into an OVER-130-inch carton, which will define more expensive shipping costs. We would be shipping via FedExGround, and this would be their largest size range of carton allowable (131" - 160")...usually from at *least* $90 to over $100 (??) Alternatively, we can ship via Greyhound Package Express: 1/ There is no insurance available by GPE. 2/ You would need to reimburse our r/t gasoline costs to the bus station ($15). 3/ We have never had a problem with GPE. 4/ GPE stuff usually gets shipped FAST. 5/ GPE stuff is rarely damaged, because stuff they ship is never more than two feet off the ground. 6/ GPE is extremely likely to be less expensive than FedExGround or UPS Ground, but it is difficult to get a price quote until we get to the bus station with the item......Work with us, and we'll work with you to ship as cheaply as possible.INTERNATIONAL: We can NO LONGER ship via BaxGlobal, and this is probably TOO LARGE to mail via the U.S. Postal Service, so if you win, expect the shipping cost to be expensive. There is a $15 packing charge (above shipping costs) to cover our expenses involved in boxing up this item.PAYMENT: We do not accept payment via PayPal, but since we are a "REAL" music store (since 1979), WE ACCEPT Visa, MasterCard, and Discover DIRECTLY. If the winning bidder wishes to pay via credit card, just please simply phone in your information (the old fashioned way). Please call us (during normal business hours on weekdays only, please) with any questions you might have prior to bidding. Unlike most sellers, we CAN play this instrument and ARE WILLING TO DO SO FOR YOU - OVER THE PHONE !!! (901) 465-4739 (You could email ahead to arrange this.)The opening bid (NO RESERVE) is a very low no-nonsense amount. We intend to SELL this tuba without messing around with multiple re-lists, etc. If you are not familiar with this model (manufactured from the 1960's -Reynolds / Olds - through the 1990's - Bach), you will be bidding against some "old timers" who are extremely familiar with the great playing characteristics and durability of this model. It is very difficult to find one of these in this condition, and there will be some competition to win this instrument - particularly with our dirt-cheap start bid (again: NO RESERVE). Currently-manufactured student-grade Taiwanese tubas simply cannot stack up to the quality, sound quality, and reliability of this U.S.A.-made tuba.*IF the winning bidder wants a new case, bag, or mouthpiece to go with this instrument, we can hook you up (the best prices we've found...really) after the auction. This is a TEN-DAY auction, so you individuals, schools, and band booster clubs should have plenty of time to get your money together and/or an authorization for this purchase. To win this item, you should BE HERE during the last 30 minutes of this auction (Sunday evening, September 7th, USA time) and bid strong. Many items sit at about 1/2 (or less!) of the price they will actually sell for until a few seconds before the end of the auction. GOOD LUCK and THANK-YOU for looking at this item.
