"CONTINENTAL COLONIAL"     SILVER PLATE CLARINET SERIAL # 112789V                           Up for auction is a rare silver plate over brass clarinet. It may be nickel-silver. "CONTINENTAL U.S.A. COLONIAL" is inscribed on the bell. Metal clarinet's date back to the early 1800's. All but a few companies stopped manufacturing them in the 1930's. They are favored by jazz musicians because of their unique tone. I play enough to test a clarinet and it easily plays all of the notes in a scale, up and down,  in all octaves. All of the keys move. It has a nice tone. The leather pads look good. It's in good cosmetic condition. The silver plate finish shines. It has a few tiny pin-head sized dings on the bell, and one on the back. They aren't very noticeable. The body is straight. It comes with a separate barrel/neck to attach a mouthpiece to the instrument. The cork on the barrel is good. It comes with a mouthpiece marked "K7, EDUCATOR, WOODWIND CO. KENOSHA, WIS.". It has a ligature and cover. The cork on the mouthpiece has been removed. It includes a lyre for holding sheet music. It comes in a black hard-case. The exterior fabric is good - it has minor wear. The plush red interior is good - has some wear and the wooden structure under the fabric is loose. The latches on the case work and the handle is good.  Don't let this one get away. It's in very nice condition, and it's ready play. It's a perfect gift for a band student, musician, or collector!       \                                   SEE PHOTOS. REMEMBER TO SUPERSIZE.
