Description
Cellists have discovered Quintus carbon fiber cellos to be the answer to the problems of playing outdoors, traveling, and normal wear and tear anytime an instrument is taken out of it’s case. One owner, purchased new 6 years ago Includes: Deluxe Light weight Case John Paul Bravo 4/4 Cello bow Why Carbon Fiber Cellos? Wood has been the material of choice for centuries. While time has proven the design for tone and volume, few makers have deviated from the tried and true in cello making. Wood has proven to be a wonderful substance to produce beautiful music, but the question that begs to be asked is, “Would makers of the past have stuck to wood if there were more durable materials available that produced a comparable sound?” Quintus cello features: • Rock-solid construction with a finish that is designed to last indefinitely with proper care. • Great attention to detail is given during the setup process so that the cello is easy to play across all strings. • The string length is set at 695mm and the nut-to-shoulder dimension 280mm, according to the most accepted standards. • The fingerboard is comprised of carbon fiber and epoxy resin for greater abrasion resistance than conventional ebony fingerboards. • Due to the increased stiffness of the carbon fiber fingerboard over conventional ebony fingerboards, pizzicato “sustain” is greatly improved. • The pegs are made of a high-tech fiber filled thermoplastic that will neither shrink nor swell with humidity changes. All Quintus instruments are patented and are handcrafted at the Quintus workshop in Arizona. The Optimus cello deviates from tradition in that the back and ribs are molded in one piece. The transition between these two planes is rounded for comfort to the player. Optimus cellos produce a very warm, earthy sound with a rich, low response.
