Description
This is a top quality bass jaw harp (or jews harp) made in Vietnam and comes in a lovely rosewood inlaid case. It is really heavy and therefore has more sustain which means you can play slow grooves too and it doesn't rattle the teeth as much as the lightweight ones. It has a very close even gap between the tine and the body which makes for superior sound. It is pitched low yet has good top end. This is a beautifully crafted instrument and is better than any I have ever found elsewhere. (and I have owned a fair few over the years.) This model is great to hold and really sounds loud and has incredible tone. As good as it gets. These are amongst the easiest instruments to play in existence and kids love them especially but they are also used by pro muso's and record really nicely for a flangy, filtered techno type organic sound. It is played by holding firmly, resting it against the teeth and twanging the tine rythmically with your fingers. The tone is altered by changing the shape of your mouth, (vowel sounds and consonants etc.,) moving the tongue and opening and closing the throat. Breathing rythmically makes cool vibrato effects and you can sing through it like a didgeridoo too so there is a broad palette of sounds to work with. I sell these at markets and in the Happy High Herb shop in Nimbin and to various music shops and there are dozens of very happy customers out there so bid with confidence. See; unheardofinstruments.com/kubing.htm for more details and cruise around my site if you would like to check out some of the unusual instruments I make. I will be loading sound samples soon onto the site and my friend Matt Ostilla has a cd we are working on which features these wonderful instruments which is in it's final stages of production and sounds awesome. Should you want a selection feel free to make orders for combined postage discounts and wholesale enquiries are welcome via the site. International bidders should know that last time I sold one to Spain it was $18aus (about 9 euro) for the postage from Oz. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister
