The violin bears the genuine label. Virtuose is a  trade name used by the famous Mirecourt, France firm of Jerome Thibouville Lamy.  This is the most famous of all the French violin workshops and during the time they were in business made more violins, stringed instruments and bows than ay other French manufacturer.  The Virtuose trade name was among the highest grades of violins made by Thibouville-Lamy and they were made from the mid-19th century until the early 20th century. William Henley, in his Universal Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers provides quite a favorable review of Viruose violins and the name is one of the very few trade names that he lists. of a re-known violin shop that won numerous awards, in the late 19century early 20th century    A violin like this can be bought at any prestigious violin shop for way more that double the price I am asking for it. Feel free to make an offer.  The reason I’m giving it away for well under half it’s price is because of the two cracks on the left hand side of the violin which I can assure have been expertly sealed and do not affect the stability nor the sound tone of the instrument in anyway what so ever. Aside from that there is that little ding on the top left hand side of the belly as you can see in the pictures it’s not a crack . No soundpost nor bass bar cracks on the violin neither.  You are getting  sweet resonant sounding quality instrument at a bargain price. See in the pictures below.     This violin is beautiful.   It is Fully set up with new Obligato Strings, new Bridge, new professionally installed soundpost. Absolutly no blemishes in the workmanship the pegs fit perfectly which makes the violin easy to tune and adjust.   The varnish is splendidly applied very shinny and attractive, it’s grabbed attention from onlookers when I take it out to play. The instrument boast of a flamed holographic two piece back. I also like the sound holes( f-holes) which are finely cut. The beauty and attention to detail is evident in the pictures below. It is fully Lined, and blocked on all four corners. The purfling is very precisely inlaid.   The violin is a pleasure to play. Playing it gets more and more exciting each time. It has layers of complex color that reveal themselves at your command. A warm, buttery sound. It is responsive when  bowed lightly it exudes  a soulful, mournful type of tone. A open clear tone immedieately emerges when bowed more aggressively.
