Description
Professional GALANTI AccordionWhat a find! This accordion is absolutely lovely. I believe it was made in the late 40 or early 50s. It was brought to the US as a gift to a young boy in the 1950s. The boy never played the instrument but kept it among his most valuable possessions. Already a grown man the owner decided he would give the accordion playing another try and had the instrument serviced in 2002 by the best accordion technician in the country Aldo Mencaccini (the founder and owner of Bell accordions, now retired). A copy of the invoice with a description of the work is shown below. Long story short, the owner decided he was not cut out to be an accordion player and decided to find a new home for the instrument. I was happy to purchase it and delighted to play it for a while. I thought I would keep it as part of my show room because of its immaculate condition. Well, I will never be a collector. I love these instruments too much to keep them on shelves and it is time for this wonderful Galanti to get more playing time. This is a full size professional instrument with gorgeous design and tone. It is a very light weight accordion for the features it offers. The sound of the accordion is very rich in high harmonics. This is the type of instrument you will remember from the classic recordings and movies from the 50s and 60s. The instrument has aged nicely and remains without a scratch. The body has the unmistakable elegant Galanti shape optimized for appearance and performance. This is the type of instrument artists will need for a recording or movie participation to obtain the authentic accordion sound from the Golden Age. The key tops have ivory finish with fine yellow stripes and "waterfall" profile. You might have seen this design on some Hohner Morino accordions from the 50s. Beautiful sounding reeds, most likely hand made 4 treble sets of reeds (LMMH) - Musette Tuning 5 sets of bass reeds 41 keys, 19" keyboard - ivory key tops 7 treble switches: Bassoon (L), Bandonion (LM), Accordion (LMM), Master (LMMH), Musette (MMH), Violin (MM), and Piccolo (H) 120 bass buttons with 3 switches Clean and air tight bellows Excellent compression Ergonomic design and light weight of about 20 lb Original straps Original case in very good condition, keys includedWe don't get many chances to buy an old stock new accordion from the Golden Age. This Galanti looks better than a show model. For a collector this is a priceless addition. If you need a light weight sweet sounding instrument that brings you back in time with its tone and appearance this is the best choice. If you have questions about this instrument or if you like to talk about accordions, feel free to email me at glazarov@AccordionGallery.com or call me at 973-770-6877. In case you would like to have your accordion serviced or to consider buying an accordion I believe I can help you. I love accordions. I've played the accordion for more than 30 years now - professionally, for friends, and for my own pleasure. I've tried almost every brand there is and I still can't have enough of this experience: http://www.AccordionGallery.comThank you for reading and good luck!Notice the sculptured body design and the unique Galanti bellows straps. For more than 50 years the instrument was kept with the protective paper wrap around the bass strap. The indicator with elliptical shape and bass clef shows the bass reed sets selected by one of the 3 switches. The metal bass straps retract in a special compartment once unlocked. They resemblemore a piece of jewelry like a watch wrist band than an accordion bass strap.Created by Artisans and blessed by the Master - ready for you to enjoy and treasure ... Accordion Gallery
