These pieces were cut from the same billet and are flitch matched for perfectly matching back and sides. Back and Sides (partially dampened to show the rich color when finished)   Back and side dimensions:   Each piece has been thickness sanded with #100 grit to approximately: .115" thick x 5 1/2" wide x 22" long.   There is 3 3/8" clear of the knots for the sides.   Quality   This material has beautiful color with striking grain patterns. With these gorgeous shades of red, brown and gold, this material would make a stunning looking instrument.   Additional Information:  The Pacific Madrone (Arbutus menziesii), is a species of arbutus found on the west coast of North America, from British Columbia (chiefly Vancouver Island) to California, mainly on the Pacific Coast Ranges but also scattered on the west slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains.  It becomes rare south of Santa Barbara County, with isolated stands south to Palomar Mountain, San Diego County and northern Baja California, Mexico.  It is also know as the madroño, bearberry, or strawberry tree.
