This shakuhachi is in perfect condition with no cracks or dings whatsoever. The joint is a bit loose and requires a coat of laquer or a small piece of plumbers tape. This is a natural occurance.The pitch is excellent and precise through all octaves. Nice dense piece of bamboo, but not too heavy, and as you can see, a really exquisite root end! There are 3 signatures on this flute. Two of them are from the original maker Ichijo, and one is from Monty Levenson. Monty made a very slight adjustment to the flute to increase the resonance, stability, and power of the Otsu Ro. This Ichijo 2.0 shakuhachi comes with the wool vapor lock carrying bag, a plastic bag, and with the beautiful silk utaguchi cover as shown in the last photo. Although this is a jiari shakuhachi, it plays with a very natural sound. An excellent shakuhachi for sankyoku or for honkyoku practice.
