PRE-CBS 1962 Fender J Bass Sunburst Start Price USD 6,979.00 Current Price USD 6,979.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price USD 6,989.50 Reserve Price - Start Time Saturday, November 15, 2008 End Time Saturday, November 22, 2008 Location PA See more about 'PRE-CBS 1962 Fender J Bass Sunburst ' Description PRE-CBS 1962 ( 7 MAY 62 A )Fender Jazz Bass.Neck Plate Serial # 782XX.All original except the finish on body (Alder) only..The  nitro refinish was done by RS guitars with relic touch.(I have the receipt for the work from RS guitar  and will be included)Original parts: Pickups,control with all matching # on pots,1/4 jack,capacitor,bridge,pickguard,thumbrest,knobs,tuners,chrome covers,neck plate,and case.All original clothwire.The case has seen better days but it's the original.The case original color was a blonde  but someone painted it black! you can see the blond color inside and some other spots.The neck has the original finish and fender logo and no overspray.The neck is straight.Truss rod smooth in both direction.Original frets and with some fetware on first frets not bad for 48 year old bass.Has some light crack by e-tuners screw see pictures,not deep at all this is very common on 62 fender bass necks.This repaired hair line crack has no issue with playability on this fine classic '62 Fender Jazz bass neck. Rosewood fingerboard a flat or slab lamination glue joint.(Yes this is early '62 Fender Jazz Bass like the lost Jaco Bass.No extra screwholes or routing under pickguard.The pickguard is in very good condition no crack at the tip of pickguard,just some light surface scratches.Pickups coil gone dark brass color do to age  see pictures.The black pickup cover has some scratches.Has new Thomas-Infeld ( JF344) flatwound strings.The original color of this bass was sunburst for sure.The control cavity is in original condition.RS Guitars put masking tape over it by my request so it was no need to remove it before refinishing was done.Also  both pickup cavity has the original sunburst color untouch.Also the neck cavity in original condition and color.Weight just under 9 pounds.This rare vintage classic '62 Fender Jazz Bass  has that pre-cbs Fender Jazz growl.
