Description
WANT AN ANALOG TAPE MACHINE? THIS IS THE ONE! This is a near pristine Otari MTR-90 Mk2 2" 16 track, the most desirable analog format. I've owned it for 8 years and have recorded 3 records on it, and before that it had sat warehoused for years after being used for 2 months. So nearly all the head life left - the little head life meters inside have not budged. Sounds fantastic. I have not used it in 3 years except to fire it up and run some tape. It also comes with 1" 8 track heads, apparently never used, the CB113/115 Remote and Auto Locator unit and stand, cabling to the machine, and the manual. Small amount of cosmetic (paint) damage on bottom front, but everything else is mostly perfect. It is extremely heavy (+/- 450 lbs), so PICKUP ONLY and bring muscle. Easy load out. I will not ship this item. You are welcome to come examine it if you live near Charlottesville, Virginia. Please ask any questions before bidding. On Oct-11-08 at 05:56:39 PDT, seller added the following information:While the photos show 24 VU meters, this machine has 16-track heads and electronics. Otari used the same chassis for 16- and 24-track models. On Oct-12-08 at 17:17:57 PDT, seller added the following information:In response to several questions I have received, here is some additional information. The last time I used this machine to record and playback was three years ago, and at the time it worked perfectly. I have no reason to think anything has changed about it. It has been stored in a clean, dry, non-smoking environment. I have powered it up and run tape on it just prior to this listing, but I have not recorded or played back audio, so I cannot absolutely guarantee the inputs and outputs. The rubber parts are in great shape, not cracked or gummy. Part of learning to use this machine is learning to calibrate it, and I was able to calibrate it just fine the last time I used it. It was built in about 1985. I purchased it in about 1995 from a large audiovisual company in DC that had used it for about two months before getting out of the A/V business and warehousing it. See the Q&A below for physical dimensions.
