The back of the body, neck and peg box are all fully decorated with simulated Mother of Pearl inlay.  The three rosette sound holes on the soundboard are rimmed by simulated Mother of Pearl inlay. Decorative patterns will vary. Beautifully adorned, this oud has twelve strings in six courses (nylon and nylon wound).  The soundboard has a light finish.  The nut to bridge measures approximately 24 inches.  Over all dimensions are approximately 32 x 15 x 8 inches.  Oud includes extra string set, oud pick and case.  The case has three locks and a hand grip, vinyl outside and cloth inside. Woods used in construction: spruce for the soundboard; the body and neck can be constructed of a variety of woods: including mulberry, mahogany, walnut and African wood (no English equivalent), come with 11 not 12 strings b/c the double string on the 6th course is not necessary.  Also known as Arabic OUDsEgyptian ouds for students typically have 9 or 10 strings.  the Professionals play 11 strings with 12 tuners. Second, If the strings are switched and the thicker strings are now too thick for the notches in the nut, the notches can be widened with fine sand paper to provide enough room for the thicker strings after they are switched. Last, If it seems that the nut actually requires reversal, loosen the strings and then see if the nut will pop out.  Some are set with a little glue, Others are loose and only held in by the string tension.
