When Rupert Neve left Neve in the 1970's they needed someone to service the older (now classic) consoles like the 80 series and agreed a licence with Shep to supply parts and build replacement modules like the 31105 and 1073 for which there was still high demand. The modules they built are as close as it's possible to get to the original - they used the same parts from the same suppliers and were hand made by the same people. Neve gave them all the blueprints and circuit diagrams and allowed them to put the Neve logo on them. This is not a clone, it is an authorised remake made before Neve decided to market their own reissues. This module is a direct replacement for the 31105 4 band EQ that was factory fitted into the Neve 8078 console - the last hand-wired large format console they made and arguably the best. The front panel has the necessary mic/line switch and LED's and is identical to an original 31105. This particular module was built with the popular Class A upgrade installed by recognised Neve guru Geoff Tanner. The module has been tested in a Neve 8078 console alongside original Neve modules and works perfectly. Like the 31105's, it sounds amazing on anything you put through it - vocals, drums, guitar, you name it. The pictures show the excellent condition of the module and the exceptionally high build quality and craftsmanship that has gone into making it. In terms of design 31105's are similar to the more common 1081's in that they have 4 band EQ but also have an extra opto switch for master mic/line switching on the console. The EQ has switchable high Q settings for the low-mid and high-mid bands, switchable peak/shelving curves for the lows, an additional lowpass filter with five switched frequencies and more choices of corner frequencies for the highpass filter. The specifications are as follows: INPUTS * Sensitivity Range line input continuously variable from -10dBM to +10dBM * Input Impedance (transformer balanced) 10kohm (transformer balanced). OUTPUTS * Output Impedance (at 1kHz) Transformer balanced for floating <75ohm Maximum Output >+26dBm into 600ohm EQUALISER * HF controls 5 switched frequencies: 3.3K, 4.7K, 6.8K, 10K, 15K. Plus peak/shelving switch with continuously variable boost/cut max +/-18dB * HI-MID controls 10 switched frequencies: 1.5K, 1.8K, 2.2K, 2.7K, 3.3K, 3.9K, 4.7K, 5.6K, 6.8K, 8.2K. Plus HiQ switch with continuously variable boost/cut max +/-18dB * LO-MID controls 10 switched frequencies: 220Hz, 270, 330, 390, 470, 560, 680, 820, 1K, 1.2K.
