Highly Collectible - Very Hard To Find!  BRAND NEW IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX RETAIL PRICE: $6,849.00 Breedlove Ed Gerhard Signature, 2006 Limited Edition Calendar Guitar - Calendar IX The ninth entry in Breedlove's 2006 Calendar series is a custom guitar built to Ed Gerhard's specifications. The result is the Ed Gerhard Master Class Special Edition. Built on Breedlove's J15 platform (shallow jumbo body, soft cutaway), this Gerhard MCSE features a Sitka Spruce top, and Rosewood back and sides. The guitar is bound with Master Class Ivoroid binding, and the top is bordered with a gorgeous top purfling of Abalone. The top also sports a Sunburst finish, a beautifully executed transition from a deep, dark edge, to a fiery crimson midtone, and smoothing to an amber-toned hue. The Ebony fingerboard is left blank in an elegant understatement, but is adorned with a curved fingerboard extension that gives this guitar a very unique and striking appearance. Also unusual for a Breedlove is the use of Imperial Gold Grover Tuners. With a styling that is art deco in influence, these tuners also happen to be very comfortable to use, easy to adjust, and very precise. As you might expect, this instrument has a rich, full tone that is well-suited for fingerstyle. After all, this is a model that was developed and designed in collaboration with fingerstyle virtuoso Ed Gerhard. But the EG model is also superb for just about any style of play, particularly more aggressive fingerstyle and strumming/picking styles. Sweet and resonant in response to a soft strum, wide open and wonderfully resonant when played with a meatier attack. And despite the larger jumbo size, Breedlove's shallow body makes these guitars very comfortable to play.
