Item Description THE "THIRD-HAND" UNIVERSAL OPEN-TUNING CAPOHandmade in the USA, this unique tool is limited only by your imagination and gives access to simulated open tunings, drop tunings and drone-string effects without retuning you guitar. Barre chords and closed-position scales above the capo remain as normal. The capo can be used singly as in pic 1, in conjunction with conventional capos (pic 2 ) or in pairs as in pic 3. Comes complete with instructions. Standard tuning is standard because it offers the most versatility. You can play with relative convenience in many different keys using standard tuning. Non-standard tunings are much more specific. Usually they're effective in only one key. A particular tuning may give you a great I chord, a cool IV chord, and an acceptable V chord, but perhaps offer no good way to finger a relative minor. This is why most people who use open tunings a lot, use a lot of different open tunings. Otherwise everything starts to sound the same. In contrast, partial capoing only alters chords and scales where one of the unclamped strings is played open. Barre chords and closed position scales are entirely unaffected. Many nut position chords are fingered normally as well, depending on the configuration. A partial capo can give you access to open tuning-like tonalities, and to chord voicings not available in standard tuning, without turning your fingerboard into unknown territory. This unique capo is the only device that can clamp any combination of strings at any fret on any guitar. This creates open-string effects similar to those achived by non-standard tunings of the guitar. Changing the length of an open string with a partial capo is fundamentally different than retuning the guitar, since the geometry of the scales and chords does not change, and you can play many things just as you would in standard tuning, but still achieve the sound of an open tuning. There are also many interesting and very useful effects that can be achieved through the use of a partial capo and an altered tuning simultaneously. The Third Hand Capo allows you to play things on your guitar that are not possible any other way, and it is equally useful to the total beginner, the recreational player and songwriter, and to the serious guitarist and composer. It allows drone-string resonances and chord voicings that are very useful and desirable, and opens up a new world of guitar sounds to be explored by both serious guitarists and songwriters.
