Description
From the early 50's, a remarkably resonate and 'big' sounding 4 OCTAVE range marimba. Excellent condition; keyboard in great original condition and recently tuned to a=440; resonators have slight surface damage to finish only in center area on the front, apparently from some spilled soda, notice the dullness in the center area of resonators. The resonators and frame are in excellent, near blemish free condition, all around & look fresh otherwise. This model features the lighter weight 'open' frame end pieces, with 5 vertical supports on the low end, and 3 on the top. I am told that I am the third owner, of this, a strong sounding marimba, with a very live and balanced keyboard; with very in tune and sonorous overtones thru out the lower octaves- rare on these vintage instruments! The bars, which are the same design and vintage as the Cantebury, measure: 2 1/4 " X 17 1/4 thru 1 5/8" X 7 1/4" ; height to naturals: 34 "; keyboard spans: 65 ". Cases included for the frame end pieces, rails and resonators: double box provided for bars: all will be shipped FedEx ground. Have played this on acoustic duo sets, and have then been told that this marimba can sound loud! Note: slit in case across surface of big end piece case, near floor in close up; will be be reinforced for shipping. All cases & box will be wrapped in stretch plastic, with handles available, for shipping. On Sep-07-08 at 12:56:57 PDT, seller added the following information:Note: The E flat bar is not missing, this bar was temporarily in use on my 4.3 oct. 50's Musser, while it's E flat bar was at Chicago Mallet Instrument Service to facilitate having a new E flat bar made, the original had out of tune overtones, for my recently acquired 4.3 oct.50's one owner beauty.
