Description
You are about to bid on a beautiful Vintage Martin D-21!!!!!!!!!!!! Serial Number is 162500 (see picture) This guitar is acoustic/electric and sounds absolutely amazing both plugged in and acoustic! This guitar was purchased new by my Grandfather in 1959 and has been in the family every since. My mother needs the money, so she has decided to part with it. I'm a player, but I can't afford to give her what it's worth, so sadly, I'm in the unsavory position of letting go of this piece of family and music history. This gorgeous instrument is seasoned to perfection. My Grandfather played it regularly over the past 50 years along with several other guitars that he owned, so it has been played regularly but lightly. There is only slight fret wear as he was a gentle player. There are just a few flaws in this masterpiece, but each flaw was earned, not imposed. Starting Top to bottom: Small chip on upper right corner of head stock. Few small finish chips in the head stock. One tuning machine has been replaced and is not original ("D" string). A few dings in back of neck are clearly visable in pictures. We've opted not to touch these up in any way so as to preserve as much as the originality of this masterpiece. There is a 2 inch section of binding around the back of the guitar that has been repaired. A few scratches on the back. Pick scratches on top and one chip. There appears to be one chip in the finish near the side of the neck that was touched up some years ago. After some further inverstigation, I suspect that he had a Martin thinline pickup installed in it. No one in the family can recall him ever having plugged it in, so we can't imagine why, but experts agree that it can't be original. The Neck and Top appear to be perfectly flat. No bowing... No rippling in the top. It has been kept very well humidified as far as I know. The only cracks are the tiny finish cracks you would expect. TONE FOR DAYS!!!!! I've played this guitar some, and the lows and low mids seem to penetrate through to the bone when you strum it. This guitar truly "sings." The lows, though strong, do not overpower the highs and high mids. This is one of the most balanced and richest toned instrument I've ever heard. I am astonished by the craftsmanship that went into this guitar. As you know, there is no truss-rod in this instrument, and still, the neck is absolutely perfect... Comes with the original Case which has a few marks, but is actually in surprisingly good condition. Whether you are a collector, a player, or a studio cat, this instrument will make a great addition to your bag of tools. Most of the acoustic guitars that you hear on the radio recorded in Nashville by studio pros, are guitars just like this one. Appears to have original Bone top nut and bridge. Most of us go our whole lives and never have the opportunity to buy one of these guitars. It is truly a very limited opportunity, so good luck. Recently Jim Croce's 1958 Martin D-21 went for $81,000.00!!!! You've seen vintage Martin's go for Tens of Thousands on Ebay! No Reserve! Shipping details will be discussed with the winning bidder, I am happy and confident to pack and ship, but pickup is recommended. Winning Bidder send $500.00 deposit via paypal within 1 hour of close of auction and balance by cashier's check or money order within a week. A bargain at only $5000.00!!! WOW! Another No-nonsense auction from MUSICKDOC!!!!
