Description
Hello to all of our freinds in the USA, Japan, and the rest of the world! We ship worldwide! Tejas Tubes is an authorized dealer of Marchione guitars! Buy with confidence! If you are looking at this guitar then you most likley already know the depth, craftsmanship and quality of Stephen Marchione's guitars . If you happen to not be familiar with Stephens work, then we strongly encourage you to read this listing in detail as his guitars are truly exceptional. The instrument for sale is extremely RARE and is one of only three ever made (one is owned by a Japanese collector, and the other by a very close friend of Jim Hall). This one was made for Herbie Hancock's guitar player JK and is actually the guitar featured and used on JK's solo album What's The Word. Here is a list of the musicians who use Stephen's instruments: Mark WhitfieldFaton Macula (Marc Anthony, Luis Miguel)Paul KogutJohn AbercrombieMark KnopflerMel Torme`Vernon Reid (Living Color)Georg Wadenius (Steely Dan)Wayne Krantz (Steely Dan)Leni Stern (Mike Stern)Ray Gomez (Stanly Clark)Ira Siegel ( George Benson, Jewel, Bette Midler)JK ( Herbie Hancock)Mark Stewart (Paul Simon, Bang on a Can)Kevin Kuhn ( The Lion King)Kenny Brescia (Rent)Jorge AlfanoAmit Chaterjee (Joe Zawinul)Jeff Southworth (Hall and Oates)Andy Bassford ( Toots and the Maytals)Jay Azzolina (Spyro Gyra, John Patitucci)Paige Hamilton (Helmet)Ed DeGenaroBob Gore This one owner guitar (Tejas Tubes aquired the guitar directly from the original owner) has been played in and is incredibly open and warm. The condition of the guitar is excellent with only minor wear and a very small binding wear on the back bout which Stephen himself addressed. In fact, since Tejas Tubes is located in Houston we had Stephen go through the entire guitar completely and it plays amazing well and is ready to go! The frets have been dressed and a new bone nut was carved for the next owner! Made in 1996 is a very rare X brace design with a solid hand carved one piece AAAAA Englemann spruce top, ebony fingerboard, and highly figured maple back and sides (please enjoy the pictures.) Here is a statement from Stephen about his Archtop guitars: "I build each Archtop to be the Ferrari of Archtop guitars. When you play a Marchione Archtop, you'll find that playability, acoustic sound, and beauty are my focus. I use the highest grade AAAAA Engelmann Spruce top, highly figured maple back and sides, and African Ebony fingerboard in addition to all wood binding and mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlays to make a majestic statement." The instrument is being offered at $18,500 with custom Calton fiberglass flight case. The 17" archtop new retails for $23,000 and the custom made Calton flight case runs approx $1,000. This is truly an exceptional opportunity to own an amazing instrument at a savings of over $5,000 without having to wait over a year for a new one (if you are interested in a new custom made Marchione, please contact us as we sell them at the same price as the maker!) These instruments used, will fetch well over $25,000 in Japan! We will not be accepting Paypal. Cashiers checks or bank wire transfer only.
