Description                                                          MCI JH-10 2" 16 Track Vintage Tape Machine ANALOG FAT!!!  Vintage Classic MCI JH-10 16 track 2" fat bastard. I bought the machine to restore and use for my own projects but at this point I just don't have the time. All discreet electronics here ( no IC's ) and transformers on every input and output give these machines the fattest analog sound! In fact this machine is loaded with transformers. It has two large transformers on the Repro/record/cue cards and one Beyer Dynamic German transformer on the reproduce card. Also what looks like round transformers on the back of the mother boards. And there is a big metal shield across the mother board and I'm guessing there may even be more transformers behind that? Music recorded on these machines tends to play back bigger and warmer sounding than the original source. I was told Aerosmith recorded their first album on a JH-10 so I guess that's worth mentioning. The machine powers up fine but as you can see in the pictures the meters need new light bulbs. The transport works good. It plays, fast forwards and rewinds fine. It goes in to record and plays back. Heads look good. Some of the light lenses on the original remote are missing but the switches all function well. Has 15 and 30 IPS switch. It seemed to run a little smother in 15 IPS. As you can see the auto locator is after market but works very well. I did some basic testing but I have not tested the machine beyond that. It will no doubt need some light work and restoration to put it back into perfect service. Includes original manual, 6 complete spare cards + two more for parts. Because this machine is 30+ years old we are selling it as is. I will ship this machine but would want extra for packing & Crating it. I have lots more pictures and I will be glad to email them to serious buyers. Please no picture collectors.
