Description
Louie Bellson Signature Slingerland Orchestra Drumset This is a one of a kind drumset. This set was made for Louie Bellson from Slingerland drum company. I have verification from Louie Bellson and the editors of Modern Drummer magizine showing the authenticity of this set. I have tried to track the history of this set and I found that the set was given to Louie Bellson around 1970 as part of his endorsement deal with Slingerland to be used in a clinic, I could not find where specificly that it was used. The set dissapeared from record after that till 1995 when I bought it at an estate sale, It had been in storage for a long time. I was able to find and buy additional missing pieces, I think there might have been a second bass drum but I don't know. I have had the set for 13 years now and have kept it in great condition it has never been refurbished. There is alot of the original pieces, I will not split the origional stuff from the newer stuff. I want to sell it all complete, the highlights include full rack of matching endorser concert toms, a set of original Louie Bellson stick brushes and a seat that is a marine pearl canaster seat specially fitted for Louie Bellson. This set if done right could be museum quality with just a few additions. You need to find the matching snare and second bass drum to be perfect. This is a very nice piece of drum history. There is a couple other things to note. First I cannot Guarentee the Historical accuracy on ALL the pieces to this set. I have tried to investigate it myself and by reading what is known about Slingerland, Louie Bellson, the previous owner and by asking questions of those who may know more than me. I have made every effort to pass this on to whomever buys this set. I am also open to any new info that may be relevent to this set and its history. Thank You. PLEASE EMAIL ME FOR MORE PICS, VERIFICATION AND AN ALBUM FOR THIS SET. DESCRIPTION The bass drum is a single marine pearl color Pearl 24" bass. Its condition is good to fair, the wrap on the hoop is starting to peal back slightly along the bottom, you can't see it when set up, also the endorser badge is missing. The tom mounts are all Slingerland Set-O-Matic with swivel ball. There are 6 Slingerland toms, all are marine pearl, all are in excellent shape, all have their endorser badges and hardware complete, the wood is in mint condition. Theere are 2, 14" toms, 2, 12" toms, 1, 10" tom and 1, 4" tom. The only thing to note is that the upper hoops on three are starting to fade and the chrome has chipped in a couple places I would rate 2 of the hoops in good to fair condition, and the rest of the hoops in very good to excellent condition. I have three of the original Slingerland heads and all of the toms have new remo heads, except the 4" tom. The floor tom is a 1 of 1 made. It is all brass hardware with gloss black wrap. The Louie Bellson endorser badge on the floor tom is in brass as well and one of a kind. Both the heads on the floor tom are original Slingerland. The snare Drum is a Reuther. I think it was added after and not original. The stands are a mix, There are three original Slingerland cymbal stands two have the red badge and one has a black badge, There are about 10 stands in total, (see pics). There are 2 snare stands, one Slingerland Set-O-Matic tom rack stand, several cymbal and tom stands. There are two original Sabian cymbals and a Sabian hi-hat set. The cymbals may have been added after I can not guarentee the historical accuracy of the cymbal ownership because Louie Bellson is known for his endorsement of Zildjian but to my knowlege these came with this set. There is the original Slingerland Hi-hat There are is one original Slingerland Yellowjacket petal, it is in good-fair shape. The set comes with cases, all the cases have LOUIE BELLSON ORCHESTRA, SLINGERLAND DRUM COMPANY stencled on them. There is also old Drum World tags on them with Louie Bellsons old home address on them. Also verified by Louie himself. There is a floor tom case, a 14" tom case and two rolling cases about 2.5ft x 1.5 ft x 3ft tall each with straps and wheels. The rolling cases have seen better days, I would rate one rolling case as fair to poor and the other as good. The tom cases are in great condition. There is also a red drum floor carpet with a rollers and and straps for easy moving. There is a lot of extra hardware mostly extra slingerland pieces, alot of bolts and tom equipment. There are alot of extra sticks as well (30-40) I stand by what I sell, that is as good as I can describe, if you have additional questions and want additional pics I will awnser asap. I would like to recieve the payment within 10 days of close of auction. I will accept postal money order cashiers check, please allow at least 3 days for it to clear the bank. I will accept personal check with 15 days to clear the bank. I also accept paypal I prefer local pickup. I have never had to ship something this large before and I will need your assistance in getting it shipped and I am willing to work something out on shipping before you bid.
