Description
Leedy Case Vibraphone 2.5-oct Musser Deagan vibraphonette bellsRARE; hand-damper system and motor both work!!!Buy-It-Now only $385 after $165 rebate!! I can guarantee you that you will get $165 off this item if you Buy-It-Now and then contact me before paying for the item. Rebate only applies to U.S. customers, and does NOT apply to international customers. Also, the rebate will only work if you plan to pay through paypal. This rebate is not going to last for more than a week or two (it already decreased 10%), and is descreasing in percentage every few days, so get in while you can. Here is a rare Leedy Case Vibraphone. And when I say rare, I mean VERY RARE. Anyway, this one is in poor shape cosmetically on the inside, fair shape cosmetically on the outside, and poor-to-fair shape functionally, but all the bars and hardware appear to be there. I believe that this should be easily restorable, but I have not tried to restore it., and make no guarantees. The vibraphone string/cord is broken on the chromatic set. There are a bunch of dirty dustballs in there, and this has a musty smell. This vibraphone needs a serious cleaning and a refinishing, obviously. The motor turns on too and rotates, but its rotation frequency is not steady. It probably has more of those dustballs in it, though I really have no clue what is wrong with it. The knob for the moto speed works and turns, but is chipped and probably needs to be cleaned and maybe replaced. The bars are seriously scuffed up, but they sound pretty much in tune (one or two notes sound ever-so-slightly flat, like by less than 50 cents). The tone is excellent and typical of Leedy vibraphones. It sounds in tune to me, but I don't play with an orchestra, and your opinion of it will depend on how picky you are with tuning, so I guarantee nothing about the tuning in this auction. Don't ask me whether it's A440 or A442, but I'm sure it's within the range of A439-A443. i played it with my celesta and it sounded very close in pitch. It sounds great, and has that characteristic Leedy vibraphone sound. Keep in mind that this starts where the 2nd lowest F is on a normal 3-octave vibraphone, so it is functionally the upper 2.5-octaves of a soprano vibraphone.Bars are 1.25" wide and .375" thick. Case is 20"x35"x5".I have included a page from a Leedy catalog about the case vibraphone, so that you can see what this is all about. This is a great instrument for any collector or gigging percussionist! "> AND HERE IS A MOVIE OF THE HAND-DAMPENING BAR IN ACTION!!!
